Generally, automobile manufacturers provide a warranty on a new vehicle to protect against any damages that taint your hard-earned vehicle. Manufacturers auto warranty is of two types:
This is one of the most common types of warranty offered by any automobile manufacturer. Commonly called a new-vehicle or basic warranty, a bumper-to-bumper policy covers components such as fuel systems, air conditioning, vehicle sensors, audio systems, and significant electrical parts. The warranty is capped at 3 years or 36,000 miles; however, some top automobile brands may offer for an extended period.
This type of warranty covers engine, transmission, and driveshaft. In some rare cases, manufacturers may also include airbags and add seat belts into their powertrain warranties. Despite its usefulness, a powertrain warranty generally does not cover regular maintenance, such as engine tune-ups and tire rotations. This type of warranty lasts longer than the bumper-to-bumper policy.
In addition to these two warranties, some manufacturers have added an extra element, that is the roadside assistance to their basic warranty. Some others have this as a separate policy. Roadside assistance offers complete support when your vehicle breaks down.

The warranty covers body panels that have rusted through obsoleteness and age. Some policies last up to six years, without mileage limits. However, note that the warranty covers only the complete perforation of your vehicle parts, which is rare with rust-proofing technologies. The majority of warranties don’t offer coverage for rust caused by acid rain, rock chips, or hail.
For emission controllers such as oxygen sensors & catalytic converters, two types of warranties exist: one is a design & defect warranty that covers your vehicle for 2 years or 24,000 miles if your vehicle fails in emissions control tests. Another is a performance warranty that covers your vehicle for at least two years if it fails an emissions test. Significant parts, such as engine control modules, are covered for performance and defects under this policy.
Most of the manufacturers’ warranty covers audio devices, provided they are installed by an authorized dealer. A defective or broken audio component must be taken out of your vehicle before it is sent back for repair manufacturer or replaced, but you have to pay to take the device out and put it back into your vehicle.
Some automobile makers include seat belts and airbags with bumper-to-bumper or powertrain warranties, and others make separate policies. Generally, seat belts are covered for operating usability only, and not for some other cosmetic defect.
If not covered in the bumper-to-bumper warranty, your vehicle’s conventional battery may get its own warranty. Battery warranties range from 2 to 3 years and cover defective batteries on a prorated basis.
New-vehicle tires are covered by their manufacturers, and not your vehicle’s. Generally, tires are covered under warranty replacement if the tread-wear indicators are visible, but you won’t get a completely free replacement.
