Our Opinion

Palmetto Solar has a slightly different approach to solar energy installations. It considers itself a clean energy marketplace with proprietary technology. Palmetto’s business model relies on a network of solar contractor partners across the United States to help households use clean energy.

It has a solid track record and a strong reputation for customer service and electric bill savings. The company has been in business for a dozen years and has a proven track record, making it one of the best solar companies that operate across numerous states.

One advantage of Palmetto Solar is that they use various solar energy equipment, including Q CELLS and Rec Alpha solar panels. The company is dedicated to home energy efficiency, and its app tracks home energy usage and solar electricity production. Palmetto Solar offers solar leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other financing options.

Palmetto Products and Services

Palmetto offers various solar panels and energy storage options throughout much of the United States. It specializes in the residential solar market, and most projects feature rooftop solar panels. Palmetto is dedicated to furthering renewable energy development to slow climate change and help customers save money. It is also entering the EV charger market in select areas in partnership with PlugPV.

Palmetto Solar Panels

The company offers products from various top-notch solar panel manufacturers.

Q Cells Solar Panels

Palmetto uses Hanhwa Q Cells, a quality solar panel with a 25-year product warranty. Often, Q Cells are manufactured in the United States and are a trusted PV panel brand throughout the industry. This 400-watt product is 17.4% to 21.4% efficient and commonly last for 25 or 30 years.

Rec Alpha Solar Panels

These solar panels are known for their performance in warm weather, especially appealing to solar shoppers in hot climates. It includes a 20-year product warranty and impressive power performance guarantees at 92% for 25 years. Rec Alpha panels are around 21.6% efficient, the products are available in different wattages, and the lifespan is easily 25 to 30 years.

Palmetto Inverters

Palmetto offers microinverters and string inverters for its solar panel installations.

Known as a leading microinverter manufacturer, solar installers mount Enphase products on the back of each solar panel instead of a solar power system having one or two central inverters. Microinverters are particularly beneficial on shaded roofs.

These central inverters are known for their quality and durability. SolarEdge inverters can also be paired with battery storage systems, providing backup power during grid outages.

Solar Battery Storage

Palmetto installs Sonnen home storage batteries. These advanced energy storage systems feature lithium-ion batteries and are known for providing reliable energy during grid outages.

Palmetto Services

Palmetto Solar energy provides various services related to residential solar energy systems, including repairs, removal & reinstallation, roof leak investigation, and inverter replacement. They also complete full solar system installations, including projects with battery storage.

Other Features

In addition to standard features, Palmetto offers some additional features that set itself apart from other solar installation companies.

Palmetto App

Designed to make it easy for customers to determine their solar energy production and utility bill savings, the Palmetto App allows customers to monitor their solar panel system performance and home energy use. A feature also allows customers to request help and communicate with Palmetto employees.

Palmetto Protect

These plans are available for home solar installed by Palmetto or another solar installer. These plans offer different levels of protection and may provide solar system monitoring, visual solar system inspections, recommendations on home energy savings, solar panel cleaning, or a free annual service appointment.

Mapdwell Technology

Palmetto Solar State Availability

Palmetto Solar offers services in the following states:

Palmetto Warranty

Palmetto is responsible for maintenance and repairs on solar leases and PPAs. When homeowners purchase their solar systems, all equipment includes warranties. For example, SolarEdge provides a 12-year warranty on inverters that can be extended to 25 years. Q-CELL solar panels have a 25-year product warranty.

Palmetto Cost

The cost of a solar energy system varies by its capacity and the solar equipment. For example, using premiums on solar panels can increase the price.

To obtain a free quote for a solar system, fill out the online form to get an estimate of electric bill savings.

Palmetto Payment Options

There are different payment plans available through Palmetto. With solar leases, you would pay a fixed amount monthly for your solar panels. Under a PPA, the amount varies based on solar electricity production.

A federal solar tax credit is available for solar installations on your primary or secondary residence. The tax credit is at 26% for systems installed in 2022 and 22% of the system cost in 2023. However, you are not eligible for the solar tax credit if you lease a solar energy system or enter into a PPA. You must own the solar system to be eligible.

Therefore a $20,000 solar energy system installed in 2022 could qualify for a $5,200 tax credit. By contrast, the identical system installed in 2023 could qualify for a $4,400 credit. However, unless extended, the federal tax credit will end in 2024. We recommend speaking with a tax expert to ensure you can take advantage of this valuable solar power incentive.

In addition, some states have utility rebates, government rebates, and state tax credits available. Refer to the DSIRE database for information about incentives in your area.
