Select’s Gold Care, and Bronze Care plans cost $43 per month, and the Platinum Care plan costs $48.17 per month. However, the exact price of your home warranty depends on your state, the size of your house, and additional add-on coverage.

Apart from the monthly or yearly premiums, there’s a deductible of $40-$100, which you’ll be required to pay to the technician during each service visit. You can find the exact amount of the deductible in your service agreement.

Select Home Warranty Plans & Coverage

Select Home Warranty provides warranty plans to homeowners, buyers, sellers, and realtors. SHW offers three plans of varied coverage, including optional add-ons. These plans are:

• Bronze Care Plan: Covers 8 appliances like a built-in-microwave, garbage disposal, refrigerator, etc.
• Gold Care Plan: Covers a range of 6 major home systems like AC, heating, electrical, water heater, etc.
• Platinum Care Plan: Covers everything that Gold Care and Bronze Care do plus three other significant items.

Select Home Warranty Coverage Limits

The Select Home Warranty comes with an aggregate limit of $2k per item included in the contract. You must note that all home warranties include yearly coverage limitations of how much liability a company has when repairing and replacing covered items. 

Plan Exclusions

Apart from the aggregate limits, Select Home Warranty also does not cover the following things:

• Failures caused by abuse, rust, corrosion, improper installation
• Known or unknown pre-existing conditions
• All components or parts of any covered item, such as freon, crushed ductwork, lights, solar heating systems, etc.
• Items covered under manufacturer’s warranty or any other implied warranty
• Items that require repair or replacement as a result of Acts of Nature
• Consequential Damages; including, but are not limited to water, fire, and mold spores
• Repair of any item which said the repair would violate any local, state, or federal laws, rules, codes, and regulations
• Structural damages; things covered by homeowners insurance

Note: There may be other exclusions to your home warranty; we recommend reading the sample contract thoroughly.

Quality of SHW Customer Service

Select Home Warranty reviews indicate that its services are trustworthy. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has not accredited Select, although it has a rating of ‘B’ by the organization.

Select Home Warranty claims that it will assign the technicians to provide repairs in non-emergency service requests within three days. Select will first verify whether the item causing the emergency is covered during the emergency requests. 

If the emergency pertains to gas, fire, or has the potential to cause injury, you would be required to vacate your premises and contact the proper authority. Once your home is made safe to re-inhabit, Select will begin the procedure of repair or replacement.

Claim Filing Process

To submit your Select Home Warranty claim, here is what you should do:

• Call Select Home Warranty at 855-267-3532 or visit their website to submit your claim.
• Select will assign an independent service technician to your home to fix your broken item within three business days during the week and four business days on weekends or holidays.
• You will be required to pay a service fee to Select or to the technician.

Note: Select will bear the repair or replacement cost, and reimbursement will not be made for any service performed without their prior approval.
